CULTURAL RESOURCES TOOLKIT
This section provides guidance to preservation professionals in identifying and
evaluating historic streetcar resources in Georgia. These historic resources can take on
many different forms, and depending on the time period they were created, required different
strategies for identification and evaluation of their historical significance. Above is a
map showing the various locations and resources identified during the development of “Historic
Streetcar Systems in Georgia,” as well as the historical locations of resources that once serviced
Atlanta’s system. Below a chart is provided outlining the various types of buildings, structures,
sites, and objects associated with streetcar systems. Additional charts are provided that serve as
guides in the identification of resources and the evaluation of historical significance.
Click the "Identification" and "Evaluation" buttons to view the charts. Additionally, three case
studies are presented on the Case Study pages to illustrate the identification and evaluation processes.
